OROKU-COMB

作り手が少なくなり、継承が難しくなっている日本伝統工芸の櫛。長野県の木曽谷で育つ「みねばり」と呼ばれる木から手作りされます。学名は「オノオレカンバ（斧折樺）」。斧が折れるほど堅い材で、厳しい自然環境の中、険しい山肌にしっかりと根を張って育った木から切り出されます。

その昔、「お六」という女性がいつも頭痛に悩まされていたのですが、この櫛を使って髪をとかすと頭痛が治ったという話から「お六櫛」と呼ばれています。

MAYAでは、この櫛を40年近く使い、櫛の目の太さや先端の形など理想を追い求め、職人さんにお願いし作り上げてもらっています。梳かすほどに頭皮の血流が良くなり、髪に艶と、お顔にはりが戻る、まるでフェイシャルやヘッドマッサージを受けたかのような効果を感じていただけます。

Japanese combs are a traditional Japanese craft that is becoming more and more difficult to carry on due to the decrease in the number of makers. They are handmade from a tree called ‘minebari’, which grows in the Kiso Valley in Nagano Prefecture. Its scientific name is Onoolekamba (axe-breaking birch). The wood is so hard that an axe can break it, and is cut from trees that have grown firmly rooted in the steep mountain surface in a harsh natural environment.

It is called ‘Oroku comb’ from the story that a woman called ‘Oroku’ always suffered from a headache in the past, but her headache was cured when she combed her hair with this comb.

At MAYA, we have been using this comb for nearly 40 years, pursuing ideals such as the thickness of the teeth and the shape of the tip of the comb, and asking our craftsmen to create them.

The more you comb, the better the blood flow in your scalp, the shinier your hair becomes and the more elastic your face becomes, as if you had a facial or head massage.
